Business Development Achievement Award for TWi

Mar 12, 2012

The annual Genesis Showcase was held in CIT on Monday, 5th March, marking the conclusion of the 2011/2012 Genesis Enterprise Programme. Over 200 people, including Minister Sean Sherlock, came along on the night to find out about the 17 start-ups who took part in the programme. All of the businesses prepared stands to demo their wares, representing a range of industries including IT, medical devices, food, biotechnology, and gaming.

Business Development Achievement

Five of the businesses, including TWi, were shortlisted to deliver a presentation. CEO, Patrice Fanning, spoke about the opportunity she saw to set up the company and enable both multinational and SME clients in the IT space to outsource their technical writing, editing, and documentation requirements. We were thrilled to win the Business Development Achievement award.

The big winner, Adaptive Lighting, was named Emerging Business of the Year and received €50,000 investment from Enterprise Equity as part of the AIB seed capital fund. Other awards included:

  • Market Entry Success won by Heartaid, whose mobile cardiac screening service helps to prevent sudden adult death syndrome
  • Business Plan of the Year won by Nixatel, whose location-aware smartphone application (PickaCab) puts customers directly in contact with the nearest taxi wherever they are in the world
  • Market Opportunity Investigation won by Policy Impact Assessment, whose cloud-based service securely collects and analyses data that can be used to influence EU policy decisions

We’d like to congratulate the award winners and wish all of the participating businesses every success for the future. The showcase was covered extensively by the media and leading business organisations, including The Examiner, Silicon Republic, and Cork Chamber.
